Over the years, members of the Boston Lawyers Group (“BLG”) have demonstrated a
consistent pattern of significant increases in the number of jobs offered to and
accepted by attorneys of color.
Since its founding in 1986, the BLG has grown into a consortium of more than 45
members, including prominent law firms, corporate legal departments and
government agencies in Boston. The BLG acts as a resource to members by hosting
forums, roundtable discussions, educational programs and job fairs, all geared
towards promoting diversity within Boston’s legal community.
BLG’s collaborative consortium model focuses on developing and implementing
initiatives with law schools, student affinity organizations, city and state
governments, bar associations and other professional and business organizations.
These collaborative efforts give meaning to BLG’s mission to identify, recruit,
advance and retain diverse legal talent in Boston.
The BLG is committed to promoting diversity in Boston’s legal community. It is
our strong belief that an increase in the number of attorneys of color will
encourage public confidence in the judicial system and respect for the law.
Further, a more representative professional legal community is a necessity in
order for us to successfully address the challenges we face in an ever
increasing global economy.
